Why Internet Car Buying Works

By
Motorist Assurance Program

The internet is enabling buyers of new cars to purchase at pre-negotiated, rock bottom prices without hassle. How is this possible? Dealers have considerable overhead associated with showroom sales. There is time required on the part of the sales manager in going "back and forth" between the salesman and the customer regarding continuously changing offers. There is a sales commission to the salesman on the floor, too. The internet makes this process obsolete, since there are no middlemen involved. A sales manager agrees to sell a car at a prenegotiated price – say $500 over dealer’s invoice. If you agree to this price, you can just go to the dealer and take delivery of the vehicle. There is no fuss, and it is win/win for both you and the dealer. This novel strategy, made possible on a large scale because of the internet, is dramatically changing the $1 trillion per year auto retailing business.

A Summary of Online Buying and Leasing

  1. Determine the invoice price of a car first (using CarPrices.com dealer invoice pricing data). We provide you with the invoice pricing of not just the car, but of all the options that are available for that car.
  2. Complete the free, no-obligation AutoVantage price quotation form.
  3. You will receive an email from AutoVantage with the name of a local participating dealer in your area.
  4. You will also receive in this email a guaranteed price for this car (e.g., $400 over dealer’s invoice) and a confirmation number. You will also be notified of any current dealer rebates in this email.  Dealers are allowed to add gasoline and advertising costs to invoice costs, but must inform you what these are if you ask. (Fixed, non-negotiable, just-above invoice prices occassionally may not apply for rare or specialty cars).
  5. You are guaranteed to be able to lease or purchase the car at this price. Print out our dealer invoice price and the confirming email from AutoVantage and take it with you to the dealer.  With leasing programs, this will be the final negotiated price from which all other information will be based.
  6. Arrange for payment or leasing at this fixed low price and drive home your new car!

No headaches, no greasy handshakes, and no two-tone shoes!
