WHAT: The hopes and dreams of children in Austin and San Antonio will be on display for the first time, as Saturn returns to Texas with Pictures of Hope, a photography project led by an award-winning photojournalist. Local Saturn retailers will host reveal events where the children and their families will have the opportunity to see their photos taken during a summer assignment. The children captured photos of their hopes and dreams and Saturn turned the images into a set of Pictures of Hope greeting cards.

In July, Saturn and celebrity photojournalist and author Linda Solomon visited the children of Posada Esperanza in Austin and SAMMinistries in San Antonio. During a photography workshop, Solomon taught them photo composition and photography techniques. Using a single-use camera, the children were then asked to photograph images that best expressed their hopes in life.

Posada Esperanza is a program to help immigrant women and children by providing a safe living environment and educating the women to become self-sufficient members of the community. SAMMinistries is an interfaith ministry dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless of San Antonio. The Pictures of Hope project enables children receiving services from these organizations to express their dreams and communicate them through photography, while building their self-esteem.

Saturn funded the program which includes providing the finished greeting cards, which features the children's photos. "Saturn chose to be a part of this program because giving to the local community has always been a key component in the Saturn philosophy," said Saturn Diversity Advertising Manager, Patricia Maldonado.

A Saturn retailer is partnering with each organization to sell boxes of Pictures of Hope greeting cards with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the respective organizations. Saturn of Austin has partnered with Posada Esperanza. "We are proud to be a part of the Pictures of Hope project," said Bart Gunkel, general manager of Saturn of Austin.

Saturn of San Antonio is hosting the reveal event for SAMMinistries. "We look forward to selling the Pictures of Hope greeting cards on behalf of SAMMinistries," said Rick Cavender, president, Saturn of San Antonio.
