Previous Next
10-7-2008

WHAT:
Saturn will return to Phoenix with Pictures of Hope, a photography project led by an award-winning photojournalist. The project gave children at Homeward Bound the opportunity to take photos that reflect their hopes and dreams. The photos are then featured in a set of Pictures of Hope greeting cards. Saturn of Scottsdale will host the reveal event where the children, along with their families, will see their photos for the very first time.

Homeward Bound assists homeless and domestic violence families with children achieve economic independence, secure long-term, safe, decent, affordable housing and break multi-generational cycles of homelessness and domestic violence. The Pictures of Hope project enables children receiving services from Homeward Bound to express their dreams and communicate them through photography, while building their self-esteem.

In July, Saturn and celebrity photojournalist and author Linda Solomon visited Homeward Bound to kick off the Pictures of Hope project. Solomon conducted a photography workshop and taught the children photo composition and photography techniques. The children were then sent on an assignment with a single-use camera to capture photos of their hopes and dreams.

Saturn funded the program which includes providing the finished greeting cards. “Saturn chose to be a part of this program because giving to the local community has always been a key component in the Saturn philosophy,” said Saturn Diversity Advertising Manager, Patricia Maldonado.

Saturn of Scottsdale and Homeward Bound will sell boxes of Pictures of Hope greeting cards with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Homeward Bound. “We are proud to be a part of the Pictures of Hope project,” said Dan Jonuska, of Saturn Scottsdale . “We look forward to selling the Pictures of Hope greeting cards on behalf of Homeward Bound.”
