1-8-2008 DETROIT - Trinity University capped off a successful season with one final and very rewarding victory, the "Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year." Thanks to their unique play against Millsaps during week 9 of the NCAA football season, and their strong online voting support by their fans, students and alumni, Trinity has won $100,000 from Pontiac to apply toward its General Scholarship Fund. In a play that brought back memories of the 1982 California-Stanford game, the Division III Trinity Tigers delivered one of the most unbelievable plays of the 2007 NCAA® college football season. With two seconds remaining in the game and the ball on their own 39-yard line, Trinity needed an incredible 15 laterals before Riley Curry scored the winning touchdown over the Majors of Millsaps for an improbable 28-24 win and a Pontiac Game Changing Performance. Trinity's inspiring performance has captured the attention of fans since December, who voted for it online (www.pontiac.com/ncaa) as the most dramatic moment of the season. The play received nearly 48% of the votes cast during the competition against University of Alabama, Appalachian State University and Auburn University, the other finalists for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year Award. "For the fourth straight year Pontiac has partnered with the NCAA® to celebrate the greatest, most pivotal and emotional moments in college football," said Chris Hornberger, Pontiac's National Advertising Manager. "Pontiac Game-Changing Performance is the first and still only fan-voted scholarship program. We thought it was fitting to create an even closer connection with the fans themselves, and to use the competition to recognize their individual passion for their favorite college teams. The power of this program has allowed Pontiac to be viewed as the leader in NCAA sports sponsorship by college sports fans." Trinity's victory was announced on FOX during the BCS Championship Game. Following this year's award presentation, Pontiac will have contributed 1.5 million dollars to NCAA institutions since the program began in 2004. For full program details, visit www.pontiac.com/ncaa.
